This set of scales dates from the Napolean III era of the nineteenth century. The base is weighty marble, the plates are brass, and the feet are bronze. Originally these scales were used in a pharmacy. The brass plates are stamped - these stamps were routinely given by officials when recalibrating the scales.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
